Action can change emotion

By Ryan on Oct. 8, 2008.
An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
  Action can change emotion
  To develop infinite potential,
We need an attitude of actively challenging some great, attractive goal.
The secret of success is to focus exclusively on the goal,
Without being ruled by the state of body and mind.
Actions performed by giving all develop potential abilities
And developed abilities shine bright light on our potential and future.

We have more than 80 facial muscles all told.
But what happens if these muscles are stiffened into negative patterns like depression, boredom, and frustration?
We feel tired immediately.
The body thus rules the emotions.

Merely laughing out loud, “Ha, ha, ha,” instantly lets us feel joyful and refreshed.
Ultimately, by changing the energy of the body, we can change all of our emotions.

“Action rules emotion.”

How to Have a Whole Heart

By Ryan on Oct. 7, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
How to Have a Whole Heart
When you have faith and continue to push forward with something you love,
Only then will that something lead you in the way you should go.
Everything in the universe follows a strict law of transactions.
If we want something earnestly with all of our heart,
Heaven and Earth move in an effort to achieve it for us.
The question is “how to have a whole heart.”Devotion is the answer.
We show devotion toward some place higher, clearer, wider.
We give devotion toward some place holy, toward center and root.
So devotion is a state of mind that seeks to grow,
To move to a place brighter and higher than where I now stand,

Hope never leaves those living with a heart always full of devotion.
But those who have lost devotion live in constant gloom.
When devotion has gone, we become indolent and are caught up in complaining and dissatisfaction.

Devotion is not learned, nor is it a form of knowledge.
A deep-seated habit of practicing devotion is all that matters.

Smile More, Have More to Smile about

By Ryan on Oct. 6, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
Smile More, Have More to Smile about
Things inevitably work out well when our hearts are alive,
we overflow with confidence, and laughter never leaves us.
Always think positively.
Keep your expression bright, bright no matter what.
Let your words be truthful and honest; your actions,
overflowing with confidence and conviction. If you want to live a joyful life,
once a day for the next week,
look in the mirror and smile from ear to ear
You may feel silly doing it,
but this physical action greatly stimulates one part of the brain,
creating a neural pathway allowing us to feel joy habitually. It’s also good to run outside and jump up and down on days when the weather is nice.
This leaping is a very effective method for changing one’s emotional state.
No one wears a serious expression while jumping up and down.

If you smile brightly or jump up and down,
energy stagnating in your body is released,
and even the energy field around you will change,
becoming full of vigor and life.

The Empty Void

By Ryan on Sep. 23, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
  The Empty Void
“Is, and yet is not; is not, and yet is.”
“Love without loving; hate without hating.”
What is the meaning of these words of the old Zen masters?Surely they speak of living with the mind centered in the empty Void.
There can be no bias of any kind when the mind is centered in the Void.
When there is no bias, neither is there anything weighing down our lives.
Both love and hate are a form of bias.
The desire to keep and the desire to discard both lean to one side.

The empty Void, whence we’ve come and whither we shall return.
Centering the mind there is a truly worthy revolution, a great self innovation.

This is not going to a place of nothingness.
It is completely empty, yet not a dead emptiness.
It is a truly living emptiness, touched by the energy of Heaven.

Devotion

By Ryan on Sep. 22, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
  Devotion
Devotion is living in the present.Where am I know?
Do I live in worry for the future?
Do I live in regret for the past?

The one who fails to live in the present,
Is a memory of the past or a figment of the future.
Living as if dead.

Touching their noses while washing their faces;
Finding themselves is that easy for those who have devotion.
Those who find themselves are alive.
When we have devotion, we can be awake and the present is visible.
Devotion is the proof we are alive now.
This is because devotion can be shown only in the present.

Devotion is determination forever unchanging once made.
Devotion is not shown yesterday, but not today.
Devotion is habit, a very good habit among habits.
When devotion permeates the body and always remains in the heart,
Happiness and blessings follow.

Those who practice unhappiness instead of devotion,
Are in the habit of complaining, making excuses, and feeling hurt.
Characteristic of peaceful, happy people is devotion.
Those who view the world with the habit and mind of devotion,
Finding in everything a mirror reflecting the true self,
Come to be grateful for everything, to deem everything precious.

Heaven, Earth, and Humanity

By Ryan on Sep. 20, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
  Heaven, Earth, and Humanity
O man, become an Earth Human embracing Heaven and Earth! The Tao and virtue are not found in people.
The Tao is in Heaven; virtue comes from the Earth.
Courtesy comes from those who accept the Tao and virtue.
The Way is in Heaven; virtue is in the Earth.

Heaven without the Tao is not the true Heaven;
Earth without virtue is not the true Earth;
And those without courtesy are not true Humans.

The Tao of Heaven cycles honestly through spring, summer, fall, and winter.
The Earth gives of its bounteous virtue to even the lowest of sowers according to seed they’ve sown.
Having learned the Tao from Heaven and virtue from the Earth, humans live with courtesy.

On losing Heaven and Earth, humans lose the Tao and virtue,
And become irrational, making the world a vicious, perilous place.

When the Tao is in Heaven, when the Earth overflows with virtue,
And when people are filled with courtesy, the world is harmonious.

The Tao comes out of honesty; virtue, out of great love;
And courtesy, out of humility.

Those who know the great Tao, virtue, and courtesy,
Neither fear nor tremble before the world.
O man, become an Earth Human embracing Heaven and Earth in your heart!

True Life, Divine and Noble

By Ryan on Sep. 19, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
  True Life, Divine and Noble
Human beings have a divine nature.
They have divinity, which is a noble life and the key to creativity.Heading toward this divinity, they find the way before them blocked.
It’s that troublemaker, Emotion.
“I’m what you’re looking for! Play with me!”
This is what he says.As long as we remain with Emotion, we can no longer go forward.
Once we accept emotion, we’ve already lost.
When we say, “You’re not what I’m looking for! Get out of here!”
Before we know it, Emotion vanishes.

We must find True Life within ourselves,
and keep going until we see its light.
One by one, we must tear down the walls blocking our growth.
We must not be ensnared by Emotion.
We’ll keep going forward until we encounter True Life.

Continuing onward and upward,
we can meet the True Divinity waiting for us,
the Truth we genuinely seek.

Creating new Pathways to Health

By Phil on Sep. 19, 2008.

Brain Sensitizing consists of three key practices.

The first involves stretching exercises of the kind often found in yoga, pilates, tai chi, or material arts.

As each muscle of your body is activated in deep stretching poses, corresponding areas of your brain awaken, improving coordination and balance,

The second practice involves breathing methods combined with dynamic body positioning, again ofter part of meditative practices and Yoga.

Finally, there is basic energy meditation.

This practice encourages you to view Ki energy as the link between body and mind, expanding your awareness and increasing brain clarity.

Many practitioners find they are able to begin changing negative habits using this technique.

Why We Need Enlightenment

By Ryan on Sep. 18, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
  Why We Need Enlightenment
Life is a journey. The journey begins in the seed of a thought.
The seed grows and blooms.
And then returns to the place of its origin. The end of this journey people commonly call “enlightenment.”
What does this “enlightenment” mean?
Enlightenment is knowing what?
Is it truly the end?
Is there something after it?

At the heart of enlightenment is knowing there is nothing to know.
The mind seeking to awaken has no substance.
True Mind is already enlightenment itself.

Enlightenment is a new beginning in this journey, not its end.
If we have awakened to the purpose of our journey,
we must set our course aright and head toward our destination.
This is why we need enlightenment.

Brain mastery

By Phil on Sep. 17, 2008.

The phrase brain mastery probably makes you think of something slightly different than what I mean by the term.

Brain mastery does not mean being smart or being able to perform mental tricks.

Rather, brain mastery is the ability to maintain a proper relationship between your brain and the outside world.

If you are a brain master, you have an almost uncanny ability to stay in the moment and to not be swept away by thoughts and emotions.

You can control your attitude and keep a positive mind-set, regardless of the situation.

And most importantly, a master of the brain never loses hope, no matter how dark the situation gets.

The Practice of Enlightenment

By Ryan on Sep. 17, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
  The Practice of Enlightenment
We must practice and realize enlightenment in society. But why does this have to be in society?
What’s wrong with just meditating in the mountains?
We do this to assess and confirm the growth of our spirits. How can we know how much our unseen spirit has grown?
Character reveals the spirit.
Character is the spirit manifested in relationships.
So your character shows how much your spirit has grown.

In the relationships we encounter in society,
we sometimes experience the pain of conflict and broken hopes.
But by purifying our habits and memories through such experiences,
we create a harmonious character, entangled and hindered by nothing.

When we practice enlightenment,
our spirits are completed through the trust in ourselves,
through the joy and peace that appear within.

Body and Brain Relaxation

By Phil on Sep. 15, 2008.

Lie down on the floor, arms to the side and legs on the ground. Position your legs shoulder width and bring your arms forty-five degrees from the body, palms facing the ceiling. If this is not possible,

sit comfortably, arms relaxed with palms facing upward. Close your eyes, feeling your chest fill with air as you breathe in. Slowly exhale, feeling the air come slowly out of your mouth.

Relax each part of the body as you call out its name. Begin with the face, feeling the forehead, eyes, jaw, and mouth releasing tension.

Feel your neck relax. Release tension from the shoulders. Allow the chest to expand more and more as you breathe. Relax the abdomen, thighs, calves, and feet.

Continue breathing as you imagine oxygen traveling farther up the spinal column with each breath. Imagine each part of the brain lighting up like a light bulb as oxygen reaches it. Call out each part of the brain as it begins to glow.

Joys of the Spirit and Joys of the Emotions

By Ryan on Sep. 12, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
Joys of the Spirit and Joys of the Emotions
How are joys of the spirit different from joys of the emotions? The emotions are rooted in our bodies.
The spirit is rooted in our minds, in our true nature.Joys rooted in our emotions or physical bodies demand recognition by others.
Desire for ownership and desire for honor.
Joys from these things grow only when others recognize us.

The joys of the spirit need no recognition.
The peace of mind and delight that come from the heart grow greater the less they are known.

The joys of the emotions disappear on comparison with others.
The joys of the spirit are eternal joys of the heart never to be compared.
We can be genuinely happy when we live in the joys of the spirit.

A Change of Life

By Ryan on Sep. 11, 2008.

An Ilchi Lee Message for the Soul
“A Flower Blossom in the Morning”
  A Change of Life
Is your life now very different
from what you hoped it would be?
You must continue changing your habits ceaselessly
to make it the life you want. The best way to change your habits is
to practice the enlightenment you choose in your daily life.
If you do this,
your habits will change and your character will change,
Until suddenly you find you have become
the person you wanted to be. A change of habits brings a change of character.
A change of character brings a change of life.

If you want to change who you are,
practice enlightenment in your life.
