Expressing one’s self through art may lead to a more peaceful world

In today's world, it may seem difficult to find ways to exercise peace and harmony. However, many people believe that one can find their true self and deepen their desire for world peace through artistic expression.

Linda Ragsdale, a resident of Nashville, Tennessee, lost several friends in the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, which claimed the lives of 160 people. She recently traveled to Chicago for the trial of one of the co-conspirators in these attacks. While in the city, she stopped by a local middle school to talk about how art can lead to peace, according to the Niles Sun-Times.

She showed the group of children how to draw a dragon, which she said symbolizes a person's inner conflict, according to the news source. However, by putting these figures down on paper individuals may be able to exorcise these demons.

Ilchi Lee says that only when every person in the world puts aside their preconceived ideas of what people from other cultures or religions are like can world peace truly be achieved.
