Respect is the key to world peace, experts say

Ilchi Lee says peace will only be attained when individuals around the world forgive the perceived slights they have suffered and reconcile their differences with others. When one person, nation or ethnic group turns the other cheek, it can start a domino effect that leads to harmony throughout the world.

The Dalai Lama recently delivered a similar message in an interview with Radio Australia. His Holiness said that compassion and forgiveness are two of the most important principles a person can embrace in life.

In his interview with the news source, he mentioned the importance of human values and moral ethics. These two concepts can be relatively consistent from one society to the next, and the sooner people begin to realize this point, the sooner they can begin to respect one another.

Ilchi Lee says that this type of respect for the intrinsic value of humanity is the foundation of any peace effort. The value of life is shared by everyone, regardless of their race, sex or religion. Therefore, individuals who appreciate this importance may sooner come to live a peaceful life.
